Grey Grooves

Hi All,

As the sun sets quicker in the evening and rises later in the morning some of us (including me) go into that Depressed Winter Mode...( There is actually a syndrome of people that get depressed in Winter....seriously NO JOKES!).....

I always find that most relationships are on the rocks in winter too...Gone will be those cheery days of laughter and sun....Hello to those days in each others face pottering around the house...VERY SCARY!!!

Never-the- less I think the best thing about winter is Fashion!! It's around this time that we pull out all our transitional items of clothing ....TRANSITIOTNAL...YES...when its not hot, not cold....

Which leads the way for my next topic.....Grey....No surprise there...right...Wrong!

Somehow Grey melange always reminds me of Rocky!!!lol

I find that grey looks new this time around it's fresh, clean and inspiring....

Grey will start here and now and move through right into next summer...From grey melange to solid grey. Combo with white for a fresher cleaner look as in the pics or with black for that bold winter punch...Mixing of two greys is also allowed!!!

Grey is so strong that it's coming through in boots, bags, clothing- smart and casual and the most treasured possession...the grey biker jacket a must have for winter!!!

Although grey will never be the new black it surely comes close this winter underpinning almost every outfit as a dark neutral base and at the same time it holds it's own as a colour...

Remember GREY GROOVES,

Peace out!!!

Sequins- Shine Day and Night!!!

I've always been someone to be up for a party so naturally I would follow the sequin trend....

But, as most South Africans we all love our casual lifestyle of slip slops and shorts. The new winter trend is...You guessed it Sequins!!! And Love it......!!!

My friends and I have gone way out this weekend and killed ourselves dancing and socialising til the wee hours of the morning...In Sequins and studs...Now studs is whole new conversation BUT, sequins....They r hot!!!

I always remember sequins directly relating to Dynasty.....lol...But the little sequin has turned into a sequin frenzy...and I can't see anything wrong with that...

It's being introduced in leggings, vests, dresses, motifs on vests...skirts and even through the accessories form bags to headbands....(yes the sequin headband has its place too)..

I believe the secret is to wear one sequin item and the more simple the better! and then try to keep the other items grounded in black or a dark/neutral shade. And don't try to wear the sequin shoe with the sequin dress either!!!!

The one thing the retailers were hoping for was that the Young South African girl (I'm 29 and this includes me,OK) would figure out that sequins were meant for the day too...After shocking results over the festive season...This girl was not told of this secret....Shocking but true...!!!!

I'm still hoping that the true mirror ball 7Os's disco shine girl is out there somewhere and will find that the sequin will show her how much fun I've had shimmering in sequins Day or Night...

(If anyone wants to know where I got my dress, mail me)
Keep Shining....

A bit of Research form the Net...

Winter sequin essentials - dress, skirt, top, leggings, shorts
Who would have thought that anything embellished with sequins could be described as essential, but this winter sequins look set to be one of the must have trends for both daytime and evening. I love the idea of adding a bit of sparkle to a daytime outfit and if cleverly combined with grey and neutral colours sequins can look amazing without looking too much. You can choose from metallic, black and multicoloured sequins to create whatever look you like.

The Breton Stripe

As far as I can remember I wanted to be a Fashion designer....Now as far as I remember fashion as a child meant you had to wear the same as your sister and your Mom got it from Woolworths....

Yes and when you got to church or any social gathering most other girls were wearing the same outfit or something that you also have in your cupboard....

Now attached is a pic of myself (the one with the crazy hair holding the ice-cream) and my sister (who prob ate her ice-cream already and was going to go for my mine too...)

Never-the-less we were wearing matching stripe tops....IN ORANGE.....LOL!!!

Which brings me to one of this season's hottest items for winter...

You guessed it....The Breton stripe...Now although the stripe never goes away for men or surfer Chic's this seasons stripes take on a nautical more Parisian feel to it...It's absolutely massive internationally and has been for a while now...So included in the pic is a new way to wear it.

I personally cringe at the thought of wearing stripes running across the body but, as long as it's worn properly and preferably tight we should all be ok...

Best of all is something familiar and so easy to wear...i.e. If you get it wrong after looking at the pics the only stripe you should be wearing is a stripe on a suit when the fashion police arrest you...lol...

Ok my Fashion Freaks...

I'm OUT....Mwah!!

"Some Usefull (or boring) info about the stripes from the Net:"

Before we get into the outfits, let us first provide you, dear readers, with a little context. The Breton stripe shirt originated in Brittany—a French province that occupies the peninsula between the English Channel and Bay of Biscay—which may explain its nautical affiliation. The long-sleeved cotton garment usually has a boat neck and, traditionally, the stripes begin around the breastbone. Directional designers like Christopher Decarnin, however, amped up the chic factor by creating a glittering mariner shirt with bold shoulders for Balmain's F/W 09 collection. Very on trend, n'est pas! And while the runway rendition is inspirational to be sure, we will always have an affinity for the more pared-down take on this casual classic. After all, nothing can beat the laid-back allure of an oversized striped top with pushed up sleeves for a chic afternoon look, no matter whether you're yachting or merely captaining a lawn chair!

My new blogspot...

Hi Everyone,,

Finally I started my own blogspot!!! It's something thats been on my mind for the past year and I finally put fingers to keyboard...whether or not people will listen, read or take note of what I have to say is beyond me...

I saw someone else's blogspot this morning and it was terrible....She had this purple contraption on to the met, which looked shocking!!!! I thought she was obviously blind when she wore the dress.....or not!

But, who was I to judge her I didn't even have my own blogspot. So how could I critise her fashion sense...Now that I have my own one...I can truly say the dress was freaking horrid....It was made badly with puckering on all the seams and the hand sewing on the dress could have been done better by my 7year old niece....(Who also wants to be a designer and was facinated with zips and buttons since I can remember).

Now it's a long time coming that my peeps have been questioning my about fashion and how to wear it, what's hot and what's not, etc and I wonder if they ever think I'm talking utter crap???

For the most of it I do enjoy talking crap to my girls but, fashion is a serious happening in my life...

For those who have the time and energy to read my posts I will try my best to give the most relevant input I can....

Now as my fiancé said in a recent mail to my sister neither him nor my sister (mostly everyone) cannot control what comes out out of my mouth (and now in this blogspot) is evidence that this will be a wild ride!!!!!

Hold on tight....Fashionistas!!!
